  • Kammererite is a rare chromium-rich variety of Clinochlore and member of the Chlorite family. It was first discovered in 1841 by Nils Gustaf Nordenskiöld, a Finnish mineralogist who chose to name it after August Alexander Kämmerer.
  • Kammererite is the rare purple and pink variety of Clinochlore. Color depends on the amount of chromium impurities within. The green variety of Clinochlore is Seraphinite. Kammererites are formed by regional and contact metamorphism, when Igneous rocks that are rich in Olivine (Peridot) and Chromium are transformed into Serpentine rocks.
  • Clinochlore named after the Greek words for “incline,” klino, and “green,” chloros, for its typical color and inclined optic axes. Pseudohexagonal crystals that are sommonly foliates, fibrous, granular, earthy, or massive and range in colors from grass to olive green, yellowish, white, pink, or red. Part of the chlorite group, Clinochlore is commonly a product of hydrothermal alteration of amphibole, pyroxene, and biotite and is associated with serpentine, calcite, dolomite, actinolite, biotite, olivenite, plagioclase, talc, and chromite.
